Emily Dix - Diabetes Educator
​
Emily is a Diabetes Educator with 20 years of nursing experience. She graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Tasmania, a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education from Curtin University, and is currently completing a Masters of Advanced Nursing Practice in Diabetes. Emily is recognised as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator with the Australian Diabetes Educator Association and practices as a Certified Pump Trainer.
Emily is passionate about helping all people with diabetes live well and has a particular interest in diabetes technologies (i.e., insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors), and diabetes in pregnancy.
Emily can offer support and guidance for those over the age of 16 years with:

Type 1 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes

Gestational diabetes

Pre-existing diabetes in pregnancy
Services offered include:

Education and support for those with newly diagnosed diabetes (all types)

Blood glucose or blood ketone monitoring

Starting insulin or other injectable diabetes medications

Starting insulin pump therapy / insulin pump upgrades

Getting started with continuous glucose monitoring
You do not need a referral from a doctor to see Emily, however if you organise a Chronic Disease Management Plan (Item 721) or Team Care Arrangement (723) through your GP, you may be able to access a Medicare rebate to cover part of the fee.
